A few months ago, I shared my recipe for Chicken Fajitas, which was a huge hit! Many asked if you could use shrimp instead, which you absolutely can.

Do You Need A Grill To Make Fajitas?

Now you can make this dish in a variety of different ways. You can make Shrimp Fajitas on the stove, on a sheet pan in the oven, or you can grill it!

Since we’re enjoying the last few weeks of summer, I actually chose to grill the shrimp. As hot as this summer has been, I don’t want it to go away.

Perhaps because it’s my first summer in our new home, or maybe it’s because it’s a long awaited reprieve. This year has been incredibly tough for me. Cooking outside has been therapeutic, even if I didn’t have a conventional grill.

I’ve been using my Ninja Indoor Smokeless Grill and Griddle all summer long. My husband and I were in no position to set up our backyard with furniture, an outdoor grill etc…

However, we both knew that we couldn’t let a summer go by without grilling. So we purchased this mini grill on a whim, and it did not disappoint!

This grill is easy to set up and clean. There’s no set up other than plugging it in, waiting for it to warm up and go! I like it so much that we decided to hold off until next to set up our actual grill.

It turns out that this Ninja grill is great for grilling in small spaces, balconies, campsites, and apartments. Now despite its name, I would not recommend using it indoors since it’s not entirely smokeless.

Overall, grilling shrimp is extremely easy. The hardest part is not to overcook them so that they remain juicy and tender.

Easily enough, shrimp changes color once it’s cooked. The key is to keep an on it and remove the shrimp once it’s ready. Any extra steam will keep the shrimp warm and cook them through.

How To Make Shrimp Fajitas

This Shrimp Fajitas Recipe is pretty straightforward. All you have to do is create the seasoning blend and season both the shrimp and the sliced veggies. This will allow for maximum flavor payoff throughout the dish.

In fact, the secret to making the best shrimp fajitas is to season both the shrimp and veggies separately. I personally love the caramelization that happens from the brown sugar in the seasoning blend.

This homemade fajita seasoning blend works as a taco seasoning that you can use on beef, pork, seafood, and other vegetables! You can omit the salt and make it versatile to use on a variety of dishes. As long as you keep the seasoning blend dry, it will last a few months!

Easy and flavorful shrimp fajitas recipe with homemade taco seasoning!

  • Total Time30 Minutes
  • Yield5 Servings 1x
  • DietLow-Carb, Pescatarian

Ingredients

Units Scale

Shrimp

  • 1 1/2 -2 lbs Large Raw Shrimp (cleaned and deveined)
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper

Seasoning Blend

  • 1 tablespoon Onion Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Chili Powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon Light Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon Mexican Oregano or Dominican Oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin

Fajitas Veggies

  • 2 Spanish Onions
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper
  • 1 Yellow or Orange Bell Pepper

Instructions

Fajitas Seasoning:

  1. Mix together seasonings for homemade fajitas / taco blend. Set aside.

Grilled Shrimp Fajitas:

  1. Slice onion and bell peppers. Then add 3 tablespoon of the seasoning blend along with kosher salt and black pepper. Set aside
  2. Pat shrimp dry and season with the rest of the seasoning blend along with kosher salt and black pepper. Feel free to save any extra seasoning blend for future proteins or veggies
  3. Warm grill to 375°F. Then grill shrimp 2 minutes on each side. Flip after 2 minutes and continue to cook until done. Then remove shrimp and place onto sheet plan or large bowl
  4. Now grill fajita veggies. Grill until veggies reach desire doneness. I prefer the veggies a little firm and grill them for about 5 minutes. Feel free to cook for longer if desired. Afterwards, remove fajitas and place into same bowl or sheet pan as the shrimp. In the end, squeeze fresh lime over shrimp and grilled veggies. Mix until well combined and garnish with fresh cilantro. Enjoy tortillas, sour cream, rice, and beans

Notes

Seasoning Blend Storage

  • You can store seasoning blend in an air tight container. Store in a cool dry place. Seasoning blend will last up to 3 months or longer.
  • In order to make seasoning blend more versatile, do not add kosher salt or black pepper. Add salt and pepper to desire protein or veggies once you’re ready to cook along with seasoning blend
